East is Craft

Designing and developing craft products in the Eastern Economic Corridor

What comes to mind when you think of the eastern part of Thailand?

Sea, hot weather, seafood, seasonal fruits – these may be the first things that you think of. Only few people would say handicrafts.

'East is Craft', aimed to promote crafts in Chachoengsao, Chon Buri, and Rayong, the three provinces that make up the Eastern Economic Corridor. The project gathers community enterprises, local entrepreneurs, artisans, and designers to identify the individual identity of eastern craftworks and the domestic and international market needs before creating knowledge to be disseminated to members. An example of such knowledge is how to design a craft product to have a contemporary feel to add market value while using the traditional craft technique.

'East is Craft' ensures the craft of the east is advancing, impressive, and conducive to business opportunities for local communities and entrepreneurs.
