Creative Thailand Project

On the 21st July 2022, Royal Thai Consulate-General, Guangzhou, Creative Economy Agency (Public Organization) or CEA, and Taikoo Hui Department Store organized Creative Thailand Project, an event to open up the market to Thai high-end fashion items, in the provinces of Guangdong and Hainan. Eight leading Thai brands participated which include Chato Studio, Kanapot, Leisure Projects, Naken, Takara Wong, Tube Gallery, Valentier, and Vinn Patararin. In addition, we also received cooperation from 150 representatives from the local fashion industry and mass media.

On this occasion, Mrs. Jiraporn Sudanich, Royal Thai Consulate-General, Guangdong, made opening remarks on “Thai Government Support for Creative Industry Under The Policy of ‘Thailand 4.0’”. In the past, the Thai creative industry had been welcome in foreign markets. As we considered Guangdong province a center of Chinese fashion trade and production, the Royal Thai Consulate-General had the highest hope that this project would be part of the drive to push Thai brands to receive support from the people of Guangdong and Hainan. Furthermore, Khun Jessica Huang, the general manager of Taikoo Hui Department Store, also gave a welcome speech in the behalf the Taikoo Hui that they were pleased to collaborate and be part of Creative Thailand, recognized the potential of Thai creative industry, and believed Thai products would receive support from the people of Guangdong and Hainan.

Activities on July 21st, 2022 comprised 2 following events:

(1) A fashion show by Thai brands including Chato Studio, Kanapot, Leisure Projects, Naken, Takara Wong, Tube Gallery, Valentier, and Vinn Patararin. Designers from these brands selected items that would specifically interest the people of Guangdong and Hainan.

(2) A meet-and-greet with Thai designers via an online channel. Khun Saksit Pisalasupongs, a designer from Tube Gallery gave a remark on “Asian Inspiration in Fashion Design” and Khun Kanapot Aunsorn, a designer from Kanapot gave a remark on “The New Generation Designer: Way to Survive in Fashion Business and How to Make a Creative Unique Collection”. In addition, on the 22nd July 2022, the Royal Thai Consulate-General, Guangdong, also arranged an event for Business Matching in order to introduce these Thai brands to local businesses in the fashion industry and enterprises that had a potential to be purchasers in China such as Tencent, Parc Central, Alibaba, etc. Those who were interested could also watch a rerun of our livestream on YouTube CEA

CHATO STUDIO

A Thai handbag brand under the concept of Voyageurs du Monde (Travelers of the World). They believe that we are all travelers which was inspired by Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, one of the most favorite literature works of Khun May-Wachana Charoensomsamai, the brand’s founder and designer. She believes that both Romeo and Juliet want to determine their own destiny.

Kanapot

A contemporary designer brand that conveys its own culture and essence through refreshing artworks. With hand-made tailoring, every piece of clothing is a memorable piece of art that combines creativity and inspiration. Khun Kanapot Aunsorn, the brand’s founder and an alumnus of the department of fine arts, Srinakharinwirot University, wants clothes to reflect a modern image of pageant queens. Thus, he has come up with a collection that uses intricate Mudmee patterns, however, retains its simplicity through lines that conveys beauty contests. He elevates its beauty by adding a skirt made of sequin fabric. This has earned Thai national attire, made in Pak Thong Chai District, Nakhon Ratchasima, the Best Modern Thai Dress prize at Miss Universe Thailand 2020.

A clothing brand for men that is simple yet classy for modern men. Khun Nut-Nattapon Kanokvaleewong, the brand’s founder and designer, combines streetwear identity with modern luxury to create multiple collections. If you are one of those men who admire simplicity with style and unique clothes and shoes, Leisure Projects is definitely the brand you are looking for.

A clothing brand with Scandinavian style by Khun Jenny-Nattakarn Chotchanakul, the brand’s founder and designer who breaks the same-old rules of minimalism to bring fun and vibrancy to clothes. You can effortlessly mix and match Naken items to fit every style yet appear classic because Khun Jenny goes through every step of a very delicate pattern design process.

Takara Wong

The latest streetwear brand of Thailand by Khun Champ-Thakorn Wannawong, the brand’s founder. The core concept of Takara Wong came from diverse cultures from around the world, like a journey to visit and admire different places and then weave these stories together. The brand also adheres to the principle of “trial and error”. This allows the brand to produce products that prioritize quality rather than perfection yet in harmony. Takara Wong believes that imperfection is what gives their items a certain charm.

A clothing brand that represents the concept of cultural integration and is willing to break all rules of fashion design. Through the definition of “The Individual” from two designers, Khun Tea-Saksit Pisalasupongs and Khun Yui-Phisit Jongnarangsin, this brand designs every piece of clothing to have a memorable individual style. This allows Tube Gallery to be well-known among fashionistas across the world.

A Thai Couture-To-Wear clothing brand established in 2559 B.E. by Khun Big-Donnawat Perkchinnaworn, the brand’s designer and creative director who represents modern women. His clothes are both modern and elegant and made from lace and embroidery of high quality, resulting in beautiful clothes in the style of Valentier.

Vinn Pataarin

A modern clothing brand that does not only have a unique concept but also presents itself in a very distinct way. This brand was founded by two competent designers; Khun Vin Chokkhatiwat, a designer and an architect; Khun Patararin Pongprasit, a designer and an artist. Both designers always create something new by integrating technology with heritage handcraft. In addition, they have also changed old-fashion patterning by searching for new processes such as laser cutter and 3D printer and applied these new technologies to create fashion artworks with novelty.
