Every year, the festival aims to provide a platform for people to share their ideas, connect, and collaborate on design knowledge. It also aims to create enriching design experiences for children, youth, communities, visitors, and anyone interested in a variety of activities, including large-scale design exhibitions, talks, workshops, art activities, and music performances. It is organized to infuse life and vibrancy into the city, thereby creating a unique atmosphere.

CMDW2023 Is Returning With the Theme of 'Transforming Local,' Welcoming Homecoming People to Help Drive the Local Economy

Chiang Mai Design Week 2023 is being held for the 9th time this year. The event invites designers, thinkers, creators, entrepreneurs, artists, homecoming people, and all interested individuals to join us in moving forward together under the theme of 'Transforming Local.' This concept links all inspirations and ideas to expand our existing knowledge, both old and new, with the aim of enhancing the quality of life. Various international networking programs are not only transforming the local economy but also providing competitive opportunities.

Committed to Igniting the Local Sustainable Living

This year's festival is dedicated to promoting local sustainable living and environmental friendliness. We achieve this by offering a variety of culinary culture programs that have grown from our agricultural way of life. The culinary cultures are regarded as important pillars of local wisdom, arts, and crafts, and they contribute significantly to Chiang Mai's high-potential economy. Our aim is to support local returns by encouraging various ideas and innovative approaches that leverage local resources. We bring together individuals with diverse abilities, extensive experience, and creativity to build a valuable intellectual asset rooted in deep self-awareness and identity.

Elevating Chiang Mai to a Creative City Rooted in Cultural Heritage on the International Stage

Furthermore, the festival serves as an experimental stage for nurturing potential, developing competitive talents, and generating new opportunities in the area. This endeavor aims to cultivate an environment conducive to the work of creators, designers, and entrepreneurs in the creative industry. Above all, it strives to propel the city toward becoming a creative hub with deep cultural roots. These are the cultural and artisanal abilities that have the capacity to shine brilliantly on the international stage, after all.
