About the Program

In 2026, Thailand will host the 2026 IMF–World Bank Group Annual Meetings in Bangkok from 12 - 18 October 2026. The event holds profound significance for international economic and financial relations. It will bring together delegates from more than 190 member countries, including high-level policymakers, executives from international financial organizations, investors, global media representatives, and industry leaders. Beyond high-level policy dialogues, the Annual Meetings provide Thailand with a strategic platform to showcase its emerging economic frontiers to the world.

In this digital and AI era, the World Bank has identified the creative economy as a new growth engine for Thailand, with the potential to create more jobs, particularly for young talent. When measured broadly, the sector already accounts for THB 1.7 trillion, or approximately 10.8% of Gross Value Added (GVA). However, these figures still understate the sector’s capacity to attract investment at scale.

The Creative Economy Agency (Public Organization) or CEA, the government agency under the Office of the Prime Minister driving Thailand’s creative economy, has partnered with Netflix to convene global policymakers and industry leaders at “CREATIVITY AS CAPITAL: Driving the Next Growth Frontier,” an Official Affiliated Program of the 2026 IMF–World Bank Group Annual Meetings. The program will provide a platform for exchanging perspectives on the role of the creative economy and opportunities to unlock investment and access global markets. The program will take place on Tuesday, 13 October 2026, from 13.00 - 17.30 hrs. at the Andaz Grand Ballroom, Fl. 3, One Bangkok, Wireless Road, Bangkok, Thailand.

The program brings together policymakers, development finance institutions, investors, and global content partners around a question that will define the sector’s next decade: What does it take to make creative intellectual property investable — and to build the vehicles that carry it to market?

Alongside the plenary discussions, the event also features the exhibition spotlighting high-potential creative enterprises, commercial IP assets, and creative talent primed for global scaling and investment. Through a curated selection of Thai creative products and services, the showcases demonstrate how cultural capital can be translated into commercially viable opportunities that respond to global demand, supported by a connected creative ecosystem that enables local assets to scale and reach international markets.
