“Srichan is an old town and important business district of Khon Kaen Province. It Is the location of the City Gate, City Pillar Shrine, historical buildings, and many important sites. It is the place where important events in Khong Kaen take place, such as the countdown party during New Year, Khao Niaw Road Festival during Songkran, and various other cultural events. Srichan, therefore, is chosen as the first district to pilot a plan to develop a creative district. Various real estate development projects by the government and the private sector are ongoing, with several potential projects in the pipeline aimed to develop vacant areas to make Srichan one of the best and most beautiful districts in Khon Kaen,” said Teerasak Theekhayuphan, Mayor of the Nakhon Khon Kaen Municipality, of the Srichan District.
Hence CO - CREATE SRICHAN, a collaboration between the Nakhon Khon Kaen Municipality, Thailand Creative and Design Center (TCDC) under the Creative Economy Agency (Public Organization), Khon Kaen Pattana Mueang Company Limited, and Khon Kaen University. The project is aimed to develop Srichan into a model of a creative district in Khon Kaen that meets the needs of the stakeholders, residents, and entrepreneurs; enhances the quality of life; and increases its economic competitiveness through activities and participatory process of all stakeholders in the area, including both the public and private sectors.
